Charlotte Ashford will do anything for her cousin Lydia. They are practically sisters, having shared their childhood in Victorian England. They dreamed they would share their lives forever and made girlish promises to always be there for each other. But when Charlotte’s father decides to move to America, the two girls are ripped apart just as Charlotte is entering womanhood, and Lydia is marrying the prominent and handsome, Nathanial Hammond.
Eight years later, Charlotte is left alone and penniless after her father’s death. Learning of her cousin’s fate, Lydia invites Charlotte to return to England and live with her. But when she arrives, Charlotte discovers that not all is as wonderful as it seems for her cousin.
With promises from the past, Lydia turns to Charlotte with her troubles. Charlotte doesn’t hesitate and agrees to help. She just never expected Lydia would ask her to become her husband’s mistress.
Charlotte and Lydia imagined sharing a life together, but they never dreamed they would share a man as well.

FINDING JANE, A NOVEL
Pride and Prejudice meets The Time Traveler’s Wife
A business trip from the crowded streets of Los Angeles to the countryside of England was supposed to be a reprieve for Jane Reynolds. She needed a break from congested commutes, endless work days, and mostly, to stop crying from a broken heart. Taking refuge in a bookstore, Jane meets a psychic who tells her she was born under the black moon, giving her a magnetic energy that will send her on a faraway journey. It is only the next day, when she unwittingly steps into a strange vibrational pull and is found naked in a 19th century field that the psychic’s words find meaning.
Caught in the past, Jane becomes an interloper in the lives of the people she meets. Especially to Henry Eaton, the handsome landowner who takes her in, and finds himself drawn to the woman who has brought a renewed sense of vivacity to his family, his home, and even his own harrowed heart. But nothing good can come from disrupting a time and place you don’t belong…
…unless you are Jane.

I couldn’t praise this enchanting book enough or bring it the justice it deserves without gushing over the love story between Henry and Jane. It was passionate, heartbreaking, and time-bending all at once, and I couldn’t help but be swept up in the couple’s mass of emotions!

With Jane, Conte has crafted an intelligent if sometimes emotionally needy heroine and she does a good job showing how Jane learns to live and love in a strange new world. Women’s fiction fans will enjoy this.
